CNN Indonesia reported on the 14th that "PSSI released a letter of protest question to FIFA." Indonesia tied Bahrain 2-2 in the third Group C match of the third Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup at Bahrain National Stadium in the early morning of the 11th (Korea time). Indonesia was leading 2-1 right before the end of the match, but lost its first win in the third round of the World Cup by conceding an equalizer in the 9th minute of extra time in the second half.

Indonesia strongly complained about Omani referee Ahmed Al-Khaf, who was given six minutes of extra time at the time but continued the game. Indonesia's coach Shin Tae-yong also expressed strong anger at the post-match press conference.

Indonesia protested immediately after the match, and national team manager Sumarji was sent off, and immediately Sumarji sent a letter of complaint to the match commissioner.

Then, it officially sent a letter to FIFA under the name of PSSI. According to CNN, the letter sent by PSSI executive committee member Arya Sinullinga to FIFA contained two important complaints. CNN reported that the official complaint was made against "why the extra time given to six minutes lasted to nine minutes and why the referee was from West Asia and the Middle East." On top of that, PSSI also sent another complaint to AFC.

"This is soccer. Many factors influence the final outcome," PSSI Chairman Eric Tohir said after the match, but PSSI continued its official protest at the association level.

Team Indonesia, which has three draws in three preliminary matches due to its draw through the match against Bahrain, is preparing for an away match to China on June 15. The team is renewing its commitment to seize China, the lowest ranking team in the group, which has three losses, to rise to the top ranks.
